VAW-125 Command Master Chief

CMDCM (NAC/SW/SG/IW) Dennis W. Hunt, USN

Command Master Chief Dennis W. Hunt, a native of Tampa, Florida, enlisted in the Navy in January 1997.  After graduating from Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, he reported to Naval Technical Training Center at Corry Station Pensacola, Florida for Cryptologic Technician Collection ‘A’ School.

Master Chief Hunt has completed numerous overseas tours stationed in Japan and Spain and stateside tours at Hawaii and Colorado.  He has served onboard five Forward Deployed ships, deployed with multiple PACFLT/LANTFLT combatants conducting CNO directed special operations, and served Forward Deployed with VQ-1 squadron.  His deployments include multiple surface and subsurface operations within the FIFTH, SIXTH, and SEVENTH Fleet AORs, flying on board EP-3E aircraft accruing 1,000+ flight hours supporting PACOM priorities, and an operational staff tour with Commander SEVENTH Fleet, permanently embarked on board USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19), as the Fleet Assistant Cryptologic Resource Coordinator. His operational deployments have supported multiple exercise and real-world events to include Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief operations, response to 9/11 within the SIXTH Fleet AOR, OPERATION DESERT FOX, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, and OPERATION TOMODACHI.  Ashore, Master Chief Hunt has served as a Detachment Senior Enlisted Leader, Joint Service Senior Enlisted Leader, Joint Military Operations watch floor supervisor, Department LCPO, and held multiple command collateral duties and assignments.

In 2017, Master Chief Hunt was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program.  He has served as the Command Master Chief onboard USS WARRIOR (MCM 10), forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan.  Most recently, in May 2019, Master Chief Hunt reported to VAW-125 Tigertails, Iwakuni Japan where he serves as the squadron’s Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Hunt is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class NR18 Green Group, 2005) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course (Class 137, 2017).  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Management from the University of Maryland.  His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), as well as various campaign, service, and unit awards.
